In January this year I took a tip to ‘The Big Apple’ with my University course – This was my first time visiting New York and it was honestly amazing, I fell in love with in city within out 5 minutes of being there. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe it! In this post I thought I would share with you my top 5 things to do in New York City! So let’s get started!
1: Take a walk in central park (and visit the MET)
Central Park is stunning, I suggest just wondering around and following your nose! Theres so many things to see and do, but it’s just amazing to walk around and take in the view. It’s amazing to be in such a busy city yet walking through central park and feeling like the only people around. It’s a great place to go and relax to get away form the craziness of the city for a while. Me and my friend walked from the bottom of the park up till the MET (The Metropolitan museum of art) I know it’s slightly sad but, visiting the steps of the MET was something I really wanted to do in New York being the diehard Gossip Girl fan that I am! Sitting on the steps I felt exactly like Blair – I was in love!
2: Go to the Empire State building
I know this is the most touristy thing to do, but honestly it is really worth it! The view is insane, you get a whole 360 of the city from 86 floors up – however definitely not one for someone with a fear of heights!
3: Shopping on 5th Avenue
Now I think this goes without saying – I mean this obviously had to be on the list! Shopping on 5th Avenue is so much fun, there’s such a variety of shops to visit you could be there for days and theres something for everyone!
4: Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge
I think this was my favourite thing we did whilst in New York! The views from the Brooklyn bridge are absolutely stunning I can’t even describe how amazing it was. We did have a slight issue finding how to walk onto the bridge but after walking around for about an hour we finally got there aha! And it was definitely worth it! Walking across the bridge doesn’t actually take that long, however stopping every 2 minutes to take photos you might be there for longer than you think!
5: The Plaza for lunch!
I know this is a slightly random one, but something that I don’t believe many people know about and should definitely do! Whilst exploring the City we walked into the Plaza just to be nosey and ended up finding that they have an underground food court and thought it would be rude not to try out! There was a wide range of dining options – all at surprisingly good prices! We opted for Vive la Crepe that I would 100% recommend! However I did feel very fancy telling my mum that we had just been for lunch at the Plaza!
