This week it is the Haute Couture fashion week held in Paris; the week will be filled with designers such as Chanel, Valentino and Elie Saab. I find that Haute Couture shows are like no other – you can clearly see the amount of time, effort and detail that has gone into making the collections – I think more that on a normal runway show. Haute Couture in the literal meaning means ‘high sewing’ or ‘fine sewing’ and is fashion at its highest level – proving the excellence of the collections that will be shown this week.
Today featured the show from the amazing designers that are Ralph and Russo. Previously I did not know about these two designers, but after doing some reading for my course I stumbled across them and was shocked that I had no clue who they were. In 2012 Harrods opened up a dedicated space for them; as well as having celebrities such as Beyonce and Angelina Jolie being fans couture house. They are an incredible pair and make the most amazing pieces. This was the show today that I was most excited about seeing, and the one that I am most impressed by after looking at all of the collections.
“We have a high-profile clientele and perhaps that helped; we were what the Chambre de Syndicale was looking for. There was a gap for a label that was glamorous, elegant and feminine. Design is one thing, but craftsmanship is just as important and many of our team have been trained by the Syndicale. We’re ready for it.” – Ralph
With a definite theme of femininity, pastel pinks and floral it is very hard to choose a few favourite looks from the collection. But with after rather a long time deliberating here are some of my favourites from the show!
